Patrick Thomas is a 24 years old student in Cambridge, MA, studying architecture.
A proud midwesterner originally from Michigan he began taking photographs when his assistant principle in high school enrolled him in their beginning photography class (as a surprise to him). He now takes pictures throughout the course of his days without much diligence, but still on a regular enough basis to keep up a flickr profile.
He primarily works in digital photography because, being a student, he can’t afford the costs of film. He feels his best photographs are the ones taken with film of which very few are portrayed on his flickr site (with an exception to his Detroit series).
He is interested in “the quotidian, the non-contrived, the simplicity of the things in their natural state and uneditorialized with camera tricks and post-editing shenanigans”.
I feel some of his digital photos are often interesting and hold a pureness, a random quality, that can be lost by professional image makers.
